I agree with Chuck and Tim. It's not necessarily the horn as much as how you play it.
Admittedly, I am rusty on solo playing as I really haven't done any since I graduated from
college in 1970. However, I do play in band regularly; as I have said previously, my
favorite horn is an 1895 (approximately) vintage King by H.N. White. I can play a wider register than on my S186-4U BBb. The King has a much better low end for my pupose than the Mirafone. That said, I have no intention of letting the Mirafone go in the near future as I waited too many years to own one. Maybe if I ever retire and move back to NW Kansas where there is little opprtunity for playing, I'll sell it and a few more too.

If a particular horn works well for someone, who are we to denigrate it?
