One of my fondest memories growing up was when the Great Bill Bell appeared as guest soloist with the IBM Band in Endicott, NY. This had to be in the late sixties.
I was in Junior High and playing Tuba. My dad was playing Tuba with the IBM Band.
I still remember Mr. Bell playing a rather smallish EEb Sousaphone for his solo work.
He seemed to dwarf the instrument. Boy could he play.
I think I still have one of my early Belwin books whith his autograph.
What an inspiration!
