I took the chance to visit Joe S. at Memphis last Saturday afternoon (1/27/01) I have a tuba which needs some dent work to make it play acceptably, and he is a well-known repairman that I have dealt with before.

Knowing that my needs would take a day or two to fix, I asked for an opinion concerning a ball-park price and time needed. Joe was very professional and friendly in stating that he did not have the time to fix the instrument in the near future. He went one step further in suggesting a local repairman who might have the time, and recommended his work as being equal to Joe's own. I was also treated to seeing some of his project horns, which I think have great potential to becoming monter horns. I also enjoyed our conversations concerning tubenet messages.

The point of this message is that I was pleased to be treated respectfully and professionally by a person who is in the repair business, especially when he is dealing with a farm boy like me.

Thanks again Joe, and I will give him a call.
