And I play a Bass Bone with a "Gold Brass" bell and have no idea the make up of the metal, but for that and many other reasons it sounds quite different from the other 'bones in the band. I owned a Selmer large tenor that was made in Paris. It advertised a total copper bell, but that may have been a translation error. It was so dead I couldn't get anything approaching a full sound out of it. May have been the metal, may have been the shape, may have been something else, but it definately was dead.
Rick sounds like he may have thought of metal makeup before. I hope he comes back on this thread.
