Hi Bill,
According to what I have read about it, the first step is they give the horn a good cleaning inside, and they check and correct valve port alignments. Then they do the snake-oil part, (freezing) and collect a big fee. How do we know that the alleged improvements are due to the freezing and not the cleaning and alignment, or the psychological factor? (I paid a pile of money for this so it must be good.) The whole thing reminds me of the Monette mouthpiece religion. Monette sells you a heavy, gold-plated copy of a Bach mouthpiece that is a size larger than what you used to use, but they insist on you breathing properly and practicing a lot with it. then (what a miracle!) your sound improves! Wow.
