I can say nothing about this 1946 instrument offered fo sale.
But my 1927 Conn 40K BBb 4 standard stroke pistons sousa actually left the factory in a frosted gold plate finish. A long life, albeit always in pro ownership until I bought it, can be read on its surface, but I have no plans whatsoever to have it refinished.
Maybe my instrument was made to special order. Its non-standard 24" bell could point in that direction. But goldplate has been a factory option.
