Jay,
The mouthpiece I use is one I found in Germany at a music store. It has GBH engraved on it, the letters sort-of entwined together. It stands for Gebruedern Hablowitz, or Hablowitz Brothers, who retired a long time ago. I understand the brand was made for a time by Bruno Tilz' brother, but is no longer made at all. The rim and cup opening measure larger than anything made by anyone now, it has a huge bowl, but only has a moderate throat. I showed this mouthpiece to Doug Elliot some time ago, who measured it and said he had not seen anything like it. I hope to have him make a few copies of this, that would then be available for the tuba public to try. It weighs about the same as 2 Conn Hellebergs.
