Some people simply cannot do certain functions, i.e. flutter tongue, turn the tongue over (left to right or right to left), make a funnel out of the tongue or make the "tuh-kuh" sound with the tongue. The same goes for lip trills - some can and others just can't.

This doesn't make a failure of the player. Understanding what's possible and what's not can save the day. All that is needed is to discover either how to single tongue faster or perhaps learn how to do a doodle tongue (I can't advise on this one, however, because I don't know how.).

Perhaps a medical doctor - I'm sure there's at least one in the crowd - can explain the phenomina or at least shed some light on the physiology involved.
