Here's my 2 cents worth. I have a 186BB and a Besson 982 Eb. I really like the sound of the Besson and it has become my main horn. The Besson has a little brighter sound and is more pleasing to listen to. I can get a bigger sound on the 186 without trying as hard. I only started to play the Eb about 2 months ago and did not have any trouble switching over after 30 years of BBb fingerings. The 3+1 valve arrangement gave me more trouble than the new fingerings did.
I would give the Besson a blow and see how you like it. If you have a chance try the 983. I've never played one but it has to be more comfortable to hold than the 982.
