Well, after three-and-a-half years of Music Ed. I'm actually doing my student teaching this semester. I've been at it for two days. I do get to observe and teach in all beginner classes, but of course the tubas are my favorite class. I sat in with the class and their regular teacher today and got some very interesting comments and amazed expressions from the kids. There are nine little tubists in the class all playing three valve Yamaha 3/4 tubas, except one kid on a little Holton(yuck.) The first chair seat is held by the only girl in the class.

I'm excited about this semester. Observing beginners makes you really evaluate your own practices and techniques. It makes me want to practice more! I found myself getting defensive around some of the high school players! By the way, they play on King 2341's and sound fabulous! I love those horns for school playing.

Anyway, I'm excited that I finally get to teach instead of being taught, although learning is a lifelong endeavor.

I don't have time to practice anymore,

Jason Harrell
