I'll never do another ITEC competition simply because the bulk (not all of it!) of the competition pieces are crap! The one final piece for tuba, "Metallaphonic", was not even published when the work was listed as a required solo!!! I am happy that "whoever it is" has been getting composers to write for our(tuba/euph) instruments. However, it would be nice if the competitors could play the solos that best demonstrate their own abilties as a solo artist. I would love to know who has been making the decisions on repertoire. As for not picking a winner, how is that justified?! Competitors are either at the necessary level to be there in the first place or they shouldn't be invited at all. The standard should be the level between whomever is competing, not God. Most "professional" tuba/euph players wouldn't perform the crap on the list anyway!
Just my .02
Mike
