Historical is the key thing. Concepts and standards of playing underwent a huge change in the generation that followed Mr. Catelinet. He wasn't having a bad day. According to how he played, he was nailing it. That's how he played. I once made a critical observation of the Catelinet recording to John Fletcher. Without disagreeing with me, he stated his own view that Mr. Catelinet understood the toungue in cheek humor of the outer movements, which he felt were taken too seriously by certain players of his generation.

Historical also applies to the Sinfonia Antartica which was dedicated to Barbirolli and the Halle. Unavailable for many years. No readings between movements. That was never intended. And much more exciting than the other recordings even though it's mono.
