Thank God for stubborn young band directors who refuse to compromise their standards of discipline or musicanship. The business world approach of "my way or the highway" may be hard for parents of sensitive students to deal with, but for those who survive, they come out ahead for their future.

Thank God for dedicated educational professionals who are willing to spend a portion of their summer directing students who are willing to spend a portion of their summer playing music. Their approach to music as a viable recreational activity may lead to many years of pleasure making music for the students involved.

Praise the Lord for compassionate private instructors who use encouragement and patience to see beyond the frustrated student and reach the child who wants to learn how to play better. Their time & example provide a valuable role model for students to remember in the future.

Thank God for this BBS & posters like Klaus who are willing to take the time to post an objective third party response and knock some sense into a parent who is stressed out beyond further reasonable thought from trying to convince two sensitive children that stubborn young band director really has their best interest in mind.

It has been a long hard process, but thanks to the (usually) cooperative efforts of many, two more children will grow up to enjoy making music.

For all teachers & parents who may be struggling with frustration, hang in there.
