Before "spending" upwards of $10k on a horn, you must "invest" time and money into research and play tests.

Where do you live? You might even be able to get a last minute weekend airline ticket for under $200 - do you subscribe to any airline internet notice services? - I get them every week from Delta and USAir, and the deals are amazing. The place to be this weekend, of course, is Ft Myers, just outside of DC.

Four years ago when we bought my son a horn, we made the pilgrimmage to Custom and Brasswind. My son was able to play almost 25 different horns in 2 days. That trip was worth every cent and was essential to finding the right horn.

Without commenting specifically on your list of prospective horns, you have left out some good ones which you should consider or at least use as a benchmark.
