What's wrong with just putting in a new piece of cork? Just dig out the old one, whittle a disk out of any piece of cork, stick it in the holder, and trim the top until it closes evenly on the drain hole. If you don't like the idea of using cork, try filling the recessed area where the cork would go with RTV silcone and letting it cure. Then, trim the rubber so it closes evenly on the drain hole. This isn't a very tough job and will serve you a lot better that pulling the slide every time you need to get rid of the condensation (not spit).
