Here are a few guidelines for young players who might be going to D.C. this weekend to try out instruments:

Bring a toothbrush to the clinic, and don't try out any tubas without thoroughly cleaning your mouth.

Wear clothes that will not scratch instruments (NO belt buckles, metal accessories on clothes, blue jean rivets, etc.) and remove watches, rings, etc.

Move very slowly and very carefully and put several feet of space between you and the next person trying tubas. Dents reduce the value of instruments dramatically, and are one of the worst aspects of showing new tubas at conventions.

Have fun!
