When was your Conn manufactured? Back around 1920 and earlier, the "international standard" for low pitch was, in fact, A=435 (High pitch was about A=457, but you'dve noticed that right away). It might well be that your instrument is operating as designed.

In that case, removing some of the main slide (and the other tuning slides if necessary) is probably going to get you a better overall result than changing moutpieces.

As for the receiver, it may be the old American "standard" size. Borrow a friend's bass trombone or euph (large shank) mouthpiece and try it in the receiver. If it seems to fit correctly, that's what you've got. You can get mouthpieces from most manufacturers with this shank on special order, or, as the others have noted, Doug Elliott can supply you with the appropriate components. Denis Wick normally carries small-shank pieces (to fit old Bessons) as part of normal stock, so there's another option.
