I have recently been told by a qualified repair person that a product called "CLR" can be used effectively to flush out brass instruments when used with care. This product can be purchased at a variety of well known discount stores, hardware stores, and home improvement emporiums. I have used it somewhat successfully when I have flushed a few student horns, but unless there is a tremendous amount of build up, I still think a simple "snake" works almost as effectively. There is no replacement for regular maintenance, but if that has not happened, then flushing with chemicals may be necessary.
