The other night, I had the pleasure of watching the original Blast! performance on DVD. In there was some great tuba work. There seemed to be two different tubas used. One was a convertible "contra" and the others was a four piston upright. My question, does anyone know what the upright was. It was a large piston horn with a very short bell. It didn’t look anything like a Yamaha horn. I am under the idea that Yamaha sponsored the show and that its instruments were used, BUT this tuba wasn’t a Yamaha. It was much bigger than a 621 and looked more like a King 2341. Does anyone know what it was?
