If there is anyone on this board who "knows what he is doing" when it comes to fine brass instrument work, it is Dan Oberloh. I post this only in the hopes of preventing someone out there from experimenting with their pistons and being very, very disappointed. Even if one does not "launch" the piston with the buffing wheel, there is a great danger of creating leaks around the ports. If you got away with it, fine, but to others I say, "Don't try this at home!"
