Don't fail to consider the Besson / Boosey 3+1 Eb Tuba Model 981. I am also originally a Euph player and these instruments come very naturally because the 3+1 valve arrangement is on virtually every professional quality Euph. The 981 is a large Eb with a very pretty, "English" high register, and a relatively free blowing and authoritative low register. Ken Amis of Empire Brass uses one exclusively, as well as virtually all of the great English tuba players, past (John Fletcher) and present (Steve Sykes, Oren Marshall, etc.). And, if your can read Treble Clef Euph parts, you already know the fingerings!!

One more opinion, FWIW.
