Those who have experienced the 'real world' have learned that the so-called 'self esteem' of young people is a worthless counterfeit of 'confidence'. Confidence can only come from accomplishment (like doing ones own research), and cannot be taken away. Klauss is teaching exactly what I teach my teenage children, and I assure you that they do not feel stepped on!

He also said "the purpose of this posting is to motivate the plenitude of young and even not so young students...", so his comments weren't even directed particularly at the young, but rather at those who need motivation.

And finally, Klauss certainly has no ego problem. He knows his strengths and his weaknesses, and simply has the confidence appropriate to those strenghts. Ego is really insecurity, a product of phony self-esteem, not a product of confidence.

Joe Baker, who observes that people yell loudly when their toes are stepped on.
