The grand dream for USB was that just about all of the common low-speed peripherals were going to be USB--keyboard, serial ports, floppy, mouse, printer, etc. I think this would be not so bad if most PC's came with, say 8 USB ports, but in fact, most have only 2, necessitating the purchase of a hub or two if you've got a bunch of peripherals. Then you wind up with a bunch of cables trailing across your desktop. I don't know about you, but the little USB peripherals (card reader, floppy, hub, etc) seem to get lost in my desktop clutter and the cabling just gets tangled up.

Maybe wireless Bluetooth will fix some of that, but devices will still need to get power from somewhere--and that means more d*mned wires and probably more wall warts.

Myself, I can hardly wait for wireless MIDI to be widely deployed so my desk chair doesn't keep getting tangled up in my MIDI cable.

Pardon the rant. :)
