From your experience in Germany, do you believe that Deutche music directors/audition committees (if they exist) would actually contract a mediocre player who owns rotary instruments in BBb and F over a fabulous player who owns, say, a piston CC and rotary F?
When some of us continue to discuss the subtile differences in the character of the sound of various instrument configuration types on this bulletin board, the wide-spread incompetance of players - which totally masks any of these subtile differences in the tone quality and articulation qualities of instruments - never seems to be considered as a factor.
