one note wonder

I wonder if anyone has experience with a horn in which one note is completely out of character with the rest of the playing range? This is a 4/4 rotary BBb, B&S PT-1 and the offending note is the top space g. All notes up to and beyond this one are fine, but this particular note sounds muted, pinched, or non-resonant, and does not project. It is not out of tune, other valve combinations move the pitch around a bit, but nothing corrects the problem. I normally use a PT-50, but several other mouthpieces produce the same effect. At first I thought that this was simply a player shortcoming but since this is the only "clinker" there must be more to it. Thanks for any new ideas... NWD
