I agree with Mark F. I've had a MW 2000 since September and it's been great.
I've used it in quintets, dixie, large brass ensemble, orchestral and band settings and it's been able to adapt to all situations. Don Butterfield from New York played it for awhile after a brass ensemble concert and he loved it. My friend, Andy Rogers, tubist with the Radio City Music Hall tested it for me and he thought it was a wonderful horn. As with any other horn, it takes skill, sensitivity to making nuance happen, and good musicianship to reap the many benefits of this fine tuba. It doesn't play itself. I'm not sure it would be a great horn for a young, inexperienced player.
I'm in the process of experimenting with mouthpieces. I'm using a Schilke Helleburg ll right now with good results. I'd appreciate any feedback on mouthpieces used by other owners of th MW 2000.
