Some minidiscs will hook up to a USB port and transfer files "digitally" but the files themselves are compressed. I looked into a minidisc but didn't get one for this reason. The "NETMD" system I think it's called, and it actulaly prevents copying from the Minidisc, to prevent music piracy I suppose.

I ended up with a Creative Nomad Jukebox instead. You can record ACTUAL CD QUALITY on it (44.1khz 16 bit PCM) and make EXACT COPIES! Look into the Jukebox III, it has better audio and record level meters on it. Costs a bit more than a minidisc, but it has a hard drive, so you never have to buy discs.
