That's not necessarily true - if the editor in question is good at it, often times you CAN'T hear edits - at least not in the context of an audition panel whom are often listening to hundreds of tapes on less-than audiophile grade equipment.

Frankly, it's a well-known secret (yes, I KNOW that's a paradox) that audition tapes are often edited. Right or wrong, it's often the edge that performers use to put themselves a cut above the rest. Just make sure you do it (or have it done) VERY well if you do it - otherwise, you WILL get caught and probably disqualified immediately (just for being stupid enough to send an audition tape that has OBVIOUSLY been edited).
