You have a CC tuba available to you, courtesy of your school; you would like to have an F tuba, and you are going to need both.....the answer seems pretty clear to me. (I'm assuming you like the CC you're playing on. If you didn't, that'd be a different story.)
Yes, the guys saying that you should do more playing on CC than F (at least at this point in your career) do have a point. So yeah, you should keep that in mind. But, if you have a chance to have both at your disposal, you should go for it.
