Here in Seattle, a $517,000,000.00 ball park was built after being REJECTED by the voting public. The governor and state legislature did an end around and built it anyway. It is beautiful facility, but with our crumbling roads that forced Boeing to head to Chicago and the fall of all of the dot.com's, we could really stand to look at our fiscal priorities a tad better. Our voter approved initiative that provided mandatory cost-of-living raises for teachers was just axed out of the governor's budget. Ironically, this is the same man that the teacher's union - that I am basically forced to belong to - supported him with much money and andorsements.

Besides, the ownership of the Mariners includes Howard Lincoln, CEO of Nintendo. He already has enough of our money (gained legally) that he could have built his own stadium.
