OK, I'm not UMI, but the story is that United Musical instruments was formed by the combination of King, Conn and several other companies in the 1980s. UMI has since been bought by Steinway/Selmer, et. al, who appears to be consolidating some of the accessory lines, and I expect that they will do some more consolidation of instruments too.
