I'm wondering about the foam. If the tuba takes a hard hit, say it is dropped 10 feet to the floor...will the foam compress so that there is more or less of a point-source pressure on, say, the bottom bow that it lands on? I wonder about the possibility of suspension systems, that spread out the impact point. I remember in my Kung Fu lessons where the teacher said the reason for hunching over was that when you take a hit to the ribs, they are closer together and the hit is spread out among them, instead of breaking a single one that takes all the force if you are standing upright.
