Honestly, as many as you can. My advice - make friends with lots of other low brass players and pool resources. Maybe have a excerpt playing party every week where everyone brings in a new excerpt and sight read it...of course you wouldn't make a copy for everyone to share or anything (cough cough ;) ).....
