I agree that you should have the horn checked to make sure the valves are aligned (or get a dentist's mirror and take a look yourself). I am using a Bach 18 on my 20J and it does very well down thru the low F. In fact, when you get below the A below the staff, and push a bit, the whole horn actually /vibrates/shutters. It was the same way with the 20J and 21J I played 35 years ago in college.

However I tried a Schilke 67 Helleberg and had problems below the Bb below the staff?? Don't know why, it just wouldn't speak well with that mouthpiece, which, on the other hand, seems to work fine with my Yamaha?? You really don't need a large mouthpiece with the 2XJ horns. I used a Bach 24W for years when I was younger. Now the Bach 18 seems to fit the best for me. (Getting fatter lips as I get older???) The next best so far is a Bach 22.

I have also heard that the MF 1 works well with the 20J, but have never tried one. I have heard that you really don't want a huge mpc with any BAT.

FWIW
