Here is a followup on my question:

On paper they both are said to take the same for any given note at any given volume. BUT, bass bone seems to take a lot more air TO ME.

It could be because either (A) It really does take more air or (B) since I am much less experienced on bass trombone as my chops continue to be honed and my use of air refined it will eventually even out.

I ask this for a legit reason: I am seriously considering changing my major to bass trombone. BUT, I am short and have a vital capacity at just under 4 liters. I am not looking for 'bragging rights' but rather to find an instrument that I can play within the physical limitations I have.

I ask dumb questions from time to time, but I figured that this was an intelligent one meant to spark conversation among all you other doublers out there.
