Well I have wanted to play a solo with a band accomp. for a long time. I have a band in mind that I have worked at for free and for pay at one point or another. I teach some of his students and the band director respects my work with the kids at the camp and as a private teacher. The band director also has heard me play and has told my students that he was very impressed with my playing. Now that that is all clear and out of the way I should be able to ask about playing a solo, but how exactly do I go about that without sounding like im conceited or something of the nature? I don't know how to bring the subject up or start it into that. Can someone give me a good-working step-by-step process that is professional and has worked many times? By the way I have no idea what to play, I have a million pieces I probably could play but not sure what to play?Thanks
