The thing with all chap stick like products is that they weaken the mucous membranes on your lips. This weakening causes your lips to crack more easily. At this point you think that you "need" more chap stick to correct the problem. Basically, it's an addictive habit that gradually weakens your lips. Consider this: all of these products are essentially an invention of the 1950's. Before then, no one, musicians or the general population really used anything to moisten their lips other than their tongues. So chap stick is essentially unnecessary. Weaning yourself off of it would really be the ideal approach, then you would not have to worry about any of the reactions you may have to different products. People who have never used chap stick have stronger lips (we are, of course, talking about the membrane structure of your lips, as opposed to musculature.) That was just my little scientific evaluation of the problem, take it as you will.
