Another recent example of misleading marketing is found on the auction site where "German Engineering" is touted as manufacturing the "Helmke" instruments.

Direct trade treaty protection against misleading names of geographical origin could extend beyond "Champagne" and the like if name brand instrument manufacturers garnered enough political support in their home countries. Presently, U.S. Customs is empowered to seize and destroy incoming shipments of improperly labeled (concerning country of manufacture), as well as counterfeit or deceptively-named products when they find them.
