I myself do not use pitch as a filler matirial but instead use a low melting temprature metal alloy. The upper branch dent work is all done much the way it is shown on the web pages I offered, there is no filling with anything done during this type of repair. The process of taking dents out of the mouth-pipe involves similar types of tooling (rods, barrels, hammers and balls;) For me it is more easy and faster to unsolder the instrument at joints of the tuba in order to gain access to the damaged areas. I will often remove the mouth-pipe in order to make the needed repair but only if I really need to. Its not rocket science, just seriously hard, detailed work. The type of repair work performed on smaller tubing is much the same as that shown being done to the large branches and bows, its just done with smaller tools.

Time for me to hit the rack as I have an early morning at the bench.
Dan
