Joe,

I have both the K&M stand and the Voyager. I almost always use the Voyager. It is just as sturdy as the K&M and it may actually be a little lighter in weight. But, the reason I prefere the Voyager is the solid desk. I find it to be more convenient, both indoors and outdoors.

My music folders, playing stand, mouthpiece, valve oil, eyeglasses, etc. all fit into the nylon, carrying bag; making the larger size of the stand more or less irrelevant.

Also, the set up of the Voyager is a little easier and the height and tilt of the stand work just like the regular Manhasset stands. Adjusting the K&M involves loosening a screw which can be trouble if the stand is heavily loaded and you're holding a tuba.

Finally, it is a lot easier to attach a stand light to the Voyager.
