Happy New Year everybody! I saw a post last month asking if the Tuba Source Book is out of print and being updated. The answer is YES and YES.

News Release: This notice is to announce a very important event in the low brass world of the tuba. The Tuba Source Book, the definitive publication on the status of the tuba originally published by Indiana University Press in 1996, is fast approaching "out-of-print" status. That's the bad news. The good news is that a second edition of the Tuba Source Book is in the works. To be published by Indiana University Press, the new Tuba Source Book will update all of the literature and discography chapters of the original publication and will likely be a required text for anyone studying or teaching the tuba. A team of editors under the general co-editorship of R. Winston Morris and Daniel Perantoni are engaged in extensive research identifying new publications and recordings for the tuba that were either missed in the original edition or have been published in the past 10 years. The assistance of everyone who has an interest in helping to document the current status of the tuba repertoire is welcome. Anyone having information relevant to this research is asked to please contact the appropriate editor as identified below:

Thank you-

Tim Northcut
