Paul,
The CSO york "horn of legend" was built in 1936 or 37.
I was quoting Mr Jacobs directly as the question came up in
one of the master classes I attended in Oregon in arround...
I think 1990 (?) but the memory is the second thing to go !
I also think I have read this on a web site about the history
of the CSO dork..er York. I think this tuba oversized and over
rated. Its the player that that makes music. The horn helps though.
That last part's just opinion.
p.s. Mr jacobs never mentioned going one eyed that I remember.
I just like using both eyes as I'm dyslexic and a sigmatic .
