I called Schikle and asked the same thing once. Basically the 66 is machine made, and the SH II is hand-made on a lathe. Scott Laskey must be commended for the consistency of his SH II production through the many years he made each and every one by hand. I've played the copies, and due to some factor or another, they don't quite play or sound exactly the same as a SHII. Also, some people find he old (10-20 ys) SHII's play better than newer ones. Plus, used ones can sometimes be found for reasonable prices.
