Will be going in tomorrow for a lower back scan. It has been bothering me for about ten years. this past year it has become uncontrolable. I have have spent a hard physical lifetime of fun and work. Looks like I must pay for it now. The gentleman with the disc theory sounds like he might be on to something. Carrying a heavy tuba bag around and sitting and holding a tuba between your legs for a couple of hours could put a heavy strain on the lower back. Even blowing large volumns of air in this sitting condition could put tremendous pressure on the lumbar. I guess this is why you see more younger tuba players. They are able to take this physical beating and win--for the time being. See a doctor. I wish you good luck and myself--also.
