From a military point of view.
The Air Force's B-52 bomber has been in flying status since the Mid/late 1950's and they will be in the Air Force inventory until 2020. Thats almost 70 years of service. Longer than anything else in the military. They are exposed to all kinds of weather and flying demands. BUT the key thing is maintenance. If you take care of something it will last a long long time.
