I just had ed huckeby (AT) arkansas all region, 1st band..

we played 5 pieces total...3 of which he wrote. ! had a great time!!

the songs we played were.. el relicario, heroic sketches, by the rivers of babylon, for thy courts above, and chimes of liberty..

As for Bb vs C... If you currently play Bb I'd stick to Bb. At all region the 2nd chair guy to me played a C tuba.. great player.. but thats what he likes and hes comfortable with.. I play Bb, always have and while i wouldn't mind learning C tuba just to try.. I don't have any need to switch.

I play on a cerveny 681 school horn as well, which has not been treated very nicely in its life, i had the smallest tuba of anyone at all region, and will proly have the smallest tuba of any one at all state tryouts..

good luck, with finding a tuba. If by some chance I make all state i'll be looking for a horn as well.. since making state pretty much locks in scholarships and i can persuade my parents into helping me with a tuba..
