The general opinion seems to be that a CC is desirable if you plan on making performance your life; otherwise, it's just up to you.
On a side note; if you are looking into possibly buying a new (used) horn, this link to another post might be of interest. You can not go wrong with a well-kept Miraphone BBb (4 OR 5 valves).
