we play an arrangement of this great old Zawinul tune in my new orleans style brass band. Tonight on the radio I just heard an old 60's era pop version of the tune. Sounds ike somehting the Lovin'Spoonful would have done. Does anyone know the actual name of that pop tune and who did it? Did they call it Mercy, Mercy Mercy? Were there actually words to the tune when Zawinul wrote it or did the pop group write their own words to it?
The hook goes something like "Oh She knock me off my feet. Have Mercy on me!"
