I don't know if anyone else caught this: Don Harwood leaning over and patting Al on the back after the Brahms, during the bows. That simple gesture spoke volumes about how Al is being treated. I felt a great sense of pride for him. That probably doesn't happen alot in that orchestra. I bet Al felt great. A simple gesture of acceptance can go along way in someones life. Now, I wonder if Phil "Mr. Personality" Meyer* has acknowledged his existence yet.

*- I have heard incredible horror stories about Mr. Meyrs from folks who have subbed with the orchestra. Second hand hearsay is a menace, but some of it has got to be true. Aopologies if I am nowhere near the mark on that one. He sure can play that thing though.
