Thayer valves are well discussed as not being a good idea for Tubas but how about a Hagmann valve? I'm thinking of a 5th valve really. If it had less resistance than a regular valve, folks could add them to 4 bangers for less worry about screwing the response. Possible concern is the way the valve tubing 'comes-out', and that the mechanism is actioned on the same side as the out-tubing (you'd need a heck of space in your horn to install one well). Also, does Hagmann do tuba type bore sizes?
Any other free blowing valves been installed as 5th valves on tubas? Where would you get one anyway?
